What is Paramedical Tattooing?
Hi everyone! I'm so excited to start sharing more information and behind-the-scenes content here on the blog. I figured a good way to kick things off would be to explain what paramedical tattoos (also known as medical tattoos) actually are. And no, we are not doctors. We are tattoo artists who specialize in restoration, healing and helping people feel more at home in their own skin.
Paramedical tattooing is a specialized form of tattooing, but it goes way beyond decoration. This work is designed to recreate, restore or camouflage scars and features that have been lost or changed due to surgery, injury, medical conditions or trauma.
The two services I focus on most are 3D areola and nipple restoration, and scar camouflage.
The areola and nipple restoration work is for breast cancer survivors, mastectomy patients and anyone who has undergone breast surgery and completely lost their nipples and areolas. Using specialized techniques and tattoo inks I recreate the natural appearance of the areola and nipple. It's often the final step in what has been a long, brave healing journey, and it is such an honor to be a part of that.
Scar camouflage is for anyone with scars they want to make less visible. Surgical scars, scars from injuries or accidents, even scars from self-harm. I use custom color-matched pigments to blend the scars into the surrounding skin so they become significantly less noticeable.
Honestly this work is for anyone who feels self-conscious about something on their body, or who has lost natural features they want to restore. My clients come to me for so many different reasons but the underlying goal is always the same. They want to feel a little more like themselves again.
This is not just a job for me. It's my calling. Paramedical tattooing lets me blend my artistic eye with real, meaningful purpose. Every client who sits in my chair is on their own journey and I consider it a true privilege to be a small part of that story.
If you've been wondering whether paramedical tattooing might be something for you, I would love to chat. You can book a consultation through my Book page or reach out directly. There's no question too small and no concern too big.
